Statement from Jennifer Edwards, President of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections
“This morning we learned of the loss of a good friend, Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Phyllis Busansky. Our thoughts and prayers go out first to her family and loved ones. As elections officials and friends, we will remember Phyllis for the energy and professionalism she brought to her new role as Supervisor of Elections for Hillsborough County. Although she was in that role for just a short period of time, she made a tremendous impact on her peers, the process we all administer, and the voters of her county. Phyllis will be greatly missed.”
The FSASE conference will continue this week in St. Augustine. The organization will honor Busansky at their annual dinner Wednesday night.
Florida law prescribes the office will be filled by an appointment of the governor, until a special election can be held to complete the term in November, 2010. The contact for that process is the Department of State’s office. The communications director for the Department of State is Jennifer Krell Davis at 850‐245‐6527 or email@example.com.
